Weather in Inverness
Scotland, sometimes unfairly, is associated with high rainfall. This is true in some areas however the annual rainfall in Inverness is relatively low at just over 755mm. By way of comparison, Glasgow has 1370mm!
Inverness enjoys more than 100 hours of sunshine per month from March to September. It has 1250 hours of sun per annum (Edinburgh has 1450 hours). Unsurprisingly, July and August are the hottest months although the main tourist season which runs from April to October has reasonable temperatures.
What should I wear?
It is probably true to say, be prepared for all weathers and there is certainly an element of truth in the saying that it is possible to see four seasons in one day! Wearing layers of clothing makes it easier to manage fluctuating temperatures throughout the day.
Weather Forecasts
The BBC, produces an easy to read weather forecast for Inverness which is useful for trip planning. These can be very accurate especially on the day itself.
Travel Tip: Being so far north means long daylight hours and the opposite in the winter months!!
